RING OF FIRE: CONTINUATIONS (Wheelchair Clinic)

A person in a power wheelchair gets his chair measured by two wheelchair designers, one also in a wheelchair and the other with artificial legs. Surrounding the scene are a collage of drawings from 30 years of RING OF FIRE zines depicting artificial limb parts, hair caught in a caster wheel axle, a three legged dog jumping through a burning ring of fire, a guide dog leaning against the wheel of a power chair,

I am honored this piece has been acquired by the City of Seattle for its permanent collection. This still image is from my 2025 animation celebrating 30 years of my zine RING OF FIRE. It depicts the experience of designing wheelchairs in a wheelchair clinic with my longtime colleague Clark Landis. I collaged this drawing with images I cut and pasted from my old zines, collecting 30 years of my work.
