HENRY ART GALLERY ArtBreak and ‘COMIC SURGERY’ workshop DEC 5, 2015 2PM

(This image depicts a collage by artist Thomas Hirshhorn titled “Series KS-46” (2002). It depicts images of body parts torn and messily interspersed with images of military troops and prisoners. The words ‘GIVE’ AND ‘TAKE’ are scrawled repeatedly over the images.)

Please join me for a gallery and studio-based COMIC SURGERY workshop inspired by the themes and intimate processes of BODY PARTS.

DECEMBER 5, 2015, 2-3:30PM at 15th Ave NE & NE 41st St

‘BODY PARTS’ is a new exhibit at the Henry Art Museum featuring collage-based paintings, sculptures and pieces by Wangechi Mutu, Thomas Hirschhorn, Annette Messager, Eva Kotatkova, and Daniel Gordon among others.

Russian introduces “comic surgery” techniques that use drawing and writing to explore themes of identity, fragmentation, evolution, future, and resilience. Leave with an eight-page comic created by you! This workshop is recommended for ages 13 and up.

Admission is free for student and staff of the U WA. Accessible parking is available in the garage below. For detailed access information contact The Henry Art Museum, or myself directly.
